How do exchanges work?
First, you
sign up! Please take care to be as precise as you can in your squicks, and please give as many prompts as possible. The more prompts you give, the more likely your creator will have one they really vibe with!
Remix option: you can submit some of your own Snarry works as a prompt!
Then, once signups are done, matches are made - A will create for B, B will create for C, and C will create for A: your creator isn't the person you're creating for. You can get in touch with your giftee anonymously, via asks or AO3 guest comments for example.
You will have almost two months to create a gift... or several ;-)
Gifts must be posted by July 25th and will be revealed on July 31st; creator reveals two weeks later.
Please don't archive-lock your works on AO3 for at least a month!
What about length?Fics should be min 2K, no upper limit. You can spread your 2000 over several works, but in that case don't go under 1000 words for a single fic.
Art should be one work minimum, no upper limit ;-) An image description is required. If art is needlework, pottery, bookbinding... please provide pictures / videos, and a description of the process!
Podfic: same length requirement as for fics.
What’s the schedule?Signups until May 25th 2025, assignments sent in the following days.
Works to be posted in the
collection on July 25th at the latest; please gift the work to your giftee on AO3 as well.
If you do not have an AO3 account or cant to post there, you can submit your work to this blog
here (no Tumblr account needed).
Works will be revealed on July 31st and this blog will make posts featuring a link to AO3 if relevant, AO3 tags, link etc, and the giftee.
AO3 de-anon will happen about two weeks later, and the Tumblr posts edited to reflect that.
What counts as art?Art can be: traditional or digital art, knitting, needlework such as embroidery etc, pottery, calligraphy, songwriting, bookbinding, podfic... No monetized or AI-generated works allowed.
Inserting art on AO3:
You can use the Rich Text option, click on Insert/Edit Image, and fill in the boxes. Your pic should end in .jpg or another image format, not a link.
It’s HIGHLY recommended that you use a percentage in the “width” box rather than pixel size; this will ensure your pic always looks good on any screen (it will fill 80%, 40%, etc of the screen, whether a phone, tablet, computer, and whether you’re holding your screen in portrait or landscape mode) instead of making the reader slide left and right to see bits of the pic. 80% for art in landscape format and 40% for art in portrait format is a good starting point that you can adjust from.
To center your pic: click on “html” and not rich text, and insert <center> before <img src=“…> and </center> right after.
Here’s an example:
<center>
<img src=“LINK.png” alt=“DESCRIPTION” width=“80%” />
</center>
Can I combine this exchange with another event like a bingo or an event week?Yes… as long as the rules and schedules coincide, and as long as it’s not another bang, an exchange, an auction, or a commission.
Do you have something else in mind?
send an ask (anon ok) or a DM, or leave a message on this blog(anon ok)! This FAQ will be updated after the answer is published.
What if I'm late / have to drop out?Get in touch with the mod ASAP so a solution can be found!
